Insight LED receives award nomination for Research Excellence in technology and innovation.

Together with our collaboration partners Homita Consulting and First Principles, Insight LED Research Agency has been named a finalist for the 2023 Research Society of Australia effectiveness awards in innovation and technology for the product innovation project delivered for Momentum Energy.

As the research delivery partner, Insight LED contributed to the customer-centric approach, blending innovative research across multiple audience groups, new technology, and real-time experimentation to inform the product roadmap to ignite their customers transition to renewable energy.

Momentum Energy is the retail business of Hydro Tasmania, servicing residential, small, and medium enterprise business (SME) and commercial and industrial (C&I) customers across VIC, NSW, QLD, SA, and ACT. Hydro Tasmania is Australia’s largest generator of renewable energy, and, is the parent company of Momentum Energy.

The project was executed in four distinct phases: Discovery & insights, Design & hypothesis, Develop & iterate, and Readiness & rollout. Throughout these phases, a customer-centric approach was employed, blending qualitative research leveraging online forums, interviews and online focus groups and quantitative strategic research with new research methods of real-time experimentation.

The outcomes were significant and was completed within 4 months from the brief to delivery of the customer-led innovation product roadmap.
1. Momentum now boasts a validated portfolio of future green products and propositions, to reinforce its sustainable positioning with its customers.
2. The roadmap included 24 potential revenue-generating propositions; 1/3 of them not subject to the National Energy Market’s volatility, a key objective for the roadmap.
3. Momentum now has the capability to efficiently generate and integrate customer insights into their product development, go to market and decision-making processes.

The project’s success was underscored by the endorsement of Lisa Chiba, Managing Director of Momentum, who expressed great confidence in the outcomes, emphasizing the value of the customer-led service design approach.
